Short Bits Of Insight, Part I

(Otherwise known as Shorts Part One) I have some ideas that just don’t have enough to them to become full articles of a thousand words or more. Still, though, they can be interesting, funny, or just entertaining. Hey, if you read enough, perhaps you’ll start noticing odd things about your life as well, and get a good laugh out of everyday life. Then again… people always ask why it is that I’m laughing, and I never have an excellent 3 word explanation. I’m sure they think I’m mad.

  • When one’s food is good, one tends to eat quickly. When one’s food is unpleasant, one tends to eat it slowly or not at all. Does this seem right to you?
    • Perhaps one should eat slowly when one enjoys the food and quickly when one does not? I would think that makes more sense. Also, why do people even eat things that they know they will hate? Humans are odd… what other creature eats food that burns, freezes, or can be poisonous sometimes.
    • This also applies to other aspects of your life. Perhaps you should learn to get things over with when you hate them, and take your time when you enjoy them.
  • The gravitational law, “What goes up, must come down,” applies to everything
    • Gravity, market trends, empires, corporations, species, etc. I guess Newton was on to something.
  • It is said that there is an exception to every rule. Does this rule imply that there is an instance where there are no exceptions to a rule?
    • And if there is an instance where there is no exception to a rule, why have a rule that states that there is an exception to any rule?
  • One who is afraid to die is afraid to live.
    • (Death is unavoidable. One who is afraid to die is afraid to live. One has not lived without love. Therefore, if one is afraid to love, then one will die a lifeless coward.)
    • Really, what else are you doing on this planet? Take a risk or two.
  • Too bad that “Use it or lose it” thing doesn’t apply to fat.
    • It’s more like, “gain some and lose it (go crazy)” I’m sure you know some people who go nuts when they gain a pound or two.
  • I happen to think that a simple idea is a very good idea. The simpler the better, in a lot of cases.
    • Math for example: it’s really just based from 1 + 1 = 2 (*grunt*1 rock and 1 rock makes 2 rock! *grunt*). That is likely how it started. Then, it grew to multiplication, division, etc. out of necessity. This simple idea is therefore a perfect mirror of real life. As the mirror grew, it became capable of showing more of how life works. A simple basic idea that mirrors nature, and which has the power to become a complicated concept or result is the best idea, in my view. The bit that I am still looking for is the simple universal idea: I think that everything in creation was so ingeniously engineered (presumably by God), that it was like a small, simple, little thought that spanned everything from small to massive. Sort of like the universal flick to the small rock at the base of the pile that starts the entire avalanche.
  • Rules are not meant to be broken
    • No, really, they aren’t. Try saying that quote to a cop when they are arresting you: “You’re under arrest, you have the right to–” “Hey, hey, rules are meant to be broken” “Uh… … you have the right to remain silent, everything you say…”
    • I don’t think that’s what the person had in mind when he or she wrote the rule. However, I do think that understanding why a rule is in place is the first step to being able to break it correctly.

Well, that is all I have for now. If you have some good short bursts of insight, send them on to me (see the contact page), and I’ll be glad to post them next time, along with whatever credit that I can give to you. I hope that you’ve enjoyed this episode of “Short Bits of Insight.”

Exactly. You’re mad. But then I like being around mad people.

That’s only because we do (eat) what we enjoy. If I asked you to be Britney Spears’ personal attendant for the next year, you’d probably whinge, complain, and try not to do it. Same with food. What we don’t like, we try to avoid.

P.S.: Sorry for this very late comment.
